Two Decades Later And Still Growing

Evasive Motorsports is one of those Southern California shops that need little to no introduction. What started as a small two-man operation in 2002 has become a household name in the aftermarket industry thanks to their dedication to offering high-quality parts and service. The business has demonstrated track-proven performance on countless project cars such as the Honda S2000, Mitsubishi Evolution, Nissan GT-R, and beyond. Many of these vehicles competed, put down fast lap times in their class, and set records at events like Global Time Attack, Super Lap Battle. More recently, last year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with its 2JZ-powered Toyota 86 driven by Dai Yoshihara. Though, behind all the glitz and glamor is a brick-and-mortar and e-commerce business that has withstood the test of time, even through the many trials and tribulations of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. After eight years in its current facility in Santa Fe Springs, CA, Evasive will be moving into a new building. A sign that its formula for success and commitment to its customers still holds true almost 20 years later.

New Digs

This week, we were given a private tour by co-owner Mike Chang. Needless to say, the team at Evasive is only days away from packing up their original warehouse and office and transporting everything six miles south on the 605 freeway. The new location is off the Alondra Blvd. exit in Cerritos, CA, home to many great dining options for Asian food. The new digs are also one stoplight from the freeway offramp, making it easy to get in and out. As far as size is concerned, the compound measures about 20,000 sq. ft., two times larger than the outgoing property. What used to be a fabric shop will now house one of the most dynamic players in Southern California’s aftermarket and performance car culture. With years of experience in doing alignments, corner balancing, maintenance, installation work, dyno tuning, and full racecar preparations up the road, Evasive is now set up for even more expansion.

Bigger and Better Everywhere

A quick look at the exterior and the one thing we noticed is the amount of parking. Whether the front visitors’ lot, the ample street parking, or the enormous private and gated back lot capable of hosting a mini car show, there is plenty of space. Stepping inside the building, it’s pretty clear everything that Evasive was used to is at least double the size. The showroom is big enough to house a display car with double glass entry doors making all this possible. The office space has grown significantly, too. There’s even a conference room that will feature a display car parked adjacent to it for visitors to admire. Inside the warehouse is a heap load of shelving for inventory to better house all your favorite parts from the likes of Voltex, RAYS, KW, you name it, not to mention Evasive’s own line of goodies under the EVS Tuning label. The service center will feature a new alignment rack and an additional lift. The dyno will have its own entrance, while a sealed-off engine building room is tucked away in the far back corner.

Taking On The EV World

Before leaving, I was given a sneak peek at its latest project car, the EVS Tuning Tesla Model 3P. This electric racer features the company’s own 19×9-inch ESC01 flow-formed wheels and will undergo extensive modifications in preparation for the 99th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 27, 2021. It’s currently an all-electric sedan with bolt-ons installed that’s turning lap times comparable with the likes of the Ferrari 458 and BMW M2 at the Streets of Willow. With more suspension tuning, weight savings, and aero upgrades planned, it’s expected to be a force to be reckoned with and a testament that Evasive Motorsports will continue to innovate for years to come.
