  • This Lime Rush green 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro belongs to Christian Reyes of CSF.
  • The TRD Pro is Toyota’s flagship 4Runner model that features FOX suspension, a front skid plate, and Nitto Terra Grappler all-terrain tires.
  • Over the next six weeks, Pit+Paddock and CSF will be collaborating to build this 5th-gen 4Runner into a more serious off-road rig with suspension, wheel/tire, engine performance, and safety upgrades.
  • On May 1st, the finished build will debut at Pit+Paddock’s Cars+Coffee pop-up event hosted at CSF headquarters.

MEET CHRISTIAN OF CSF

As the Operations Manager of CSF’s Racing & High-Performance Division, I am no stranger to working with project vehicles. When I purchased my 2022 4Runner, I was immediately drawn to the TRD Pro package as it came with very enticing off-road upgrades such as the FOX Suspension and Nitto Terra Grapplers. The Lime Rush paint color was also a big factor in my decision as, in my opinion, it is the best color option available. Many people have asked me why I chose a 4Runner over other SUVs. My answer is simple: I wanted something that could take a beating on the weekend while not giving me an anxiety attack about getting to work on Monday. Toyota has long been known for its reliability and durability, and I have had nothing but great experiences with the brand.

STILL ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

While I do believe the 4Runner TRD Pro is a great mix of performance, comfort, and style, there is still room for improvement if you want to do any serious off-roading. My original plan was to build the truck slowly over the next couple of years, shoring up the biggest off-road weakness first and progressing onto the more hardcore bits as my experience grew. However, all that changed a couple weeks ago. Thanks to the relationship between Pit+Paddock and CSF, both parties came together and decided to utilize my 4Runner as a joint project vehicle, which would be documented in a build series on pitpad.com. The final look of the rig would debut at a special event on May 1st hosted at CSF HQ.

SIX WEEK COUNTDOWN

We have just under six weeks to transform my stock 4Runner into the off-road beast that I’ve been dreaming about, and we’ll be covering all aspects of the build from the suspension, wheels, tires, engine performance, and exterior. Follow along as each week we will showcase the process that goes into building a 4Runner TRD Pro, and be sure to mark your calendars for May 1st when the project is unveiled.
