If your tires don’t grip, it won’t matter how much horsepower you have—your vehicle will struggle to get where it needs to go, and it will have an even harder time getting you back to civilization. And let’s face it: being stranded—especially in the middle of nowhere—is a scary thought. In many ways, QuadBoss has dedicated its entire operation to making sure we never have to think about that. It has produced an enormous lineup of ATV and UTV parts and accessories—from wheels and tires to winches and windshields—that help keep adventure-seeking exploration fun.
GREAT WIDE OPEN
It’s hard to believe it now, but QuadBoss started by selling plows and tire sealant to motorsports dealers. Since 2001, it retuned its focus to address its customers’ growing demand for ATV and UTV parts and accessories. The more QuadBoss did, the more it learned. Despite their intents, the rancher and the recreational rider both wanted the same thing: parts that were just as functional as they were fun. It’s a brand that serves the people who work hard and play harder. More than most brands, you’ll find QuadBoss loyalists out in the sticks, working hard in the field, jumping the dunes, and getting muddy on the weekend.
RUBBER MEETS ROAD
Although QuadBoss’s product line is massive, its commitment to fun and functionality led it to explore one important segment: tires. As we mentioned already, if you can’t get traction, you’re toast no matter how much power you have on tap. Regardless of terrain, QuadBoss tires are some of the best tires you can get for your ATV or UTV.
ALL-IN-ONE SOLUTION
Like Head and Shoulders shampoo, soap, and conditioner, QuadBoss’s latest tire—the QBT889—was designed to do it all. It’s been categorized as a “loose terrain” compound and has made strong advancements in tread block design and depth to excel in that category. The former helps maintain stability and traction while the revised depth improves the tire’s self-cleaning capabilities. Together, they’ve helped create a tire that performs while also shedding weight. Importantly, the QBT889’s overbead design makes it less susceptible to punctures—a detail that makes all the difference out in the real world.
TRIAL BY FIRE
Speaking of the real world, that’s exactly where QuadBoss engineers took this tire to make sure it stood up to its claims. Needless to say, the pristine condition of its UTV was short-lived. “We torture tested these [QBT889 tires] in all different types of terrain—mud, sand, rock, hardpack—and they never let us down.” By the end of these trials, one thing was certain: this tire was everything that QuadBoss promised us—and maybe even more. At launch, the QBT889 loose terrain tire is available in three 15” sizes (32×10, 35×10, and 30×10) and two 14” sizes (28×10 and 30×10). Regardless of diameter, we suspect that the 30×10 will be one of the most popular choices for ATV/UTV riders who want to maintain easy driveability, but we found the 32×10 to be our outright favorite in the elements. It didn’t give up much in terms of acceleration thanks to its lightweight design but added ground clearance and a beefier look that made a difference. Riders who want to level up to 35×10-15s should be prepared to modify their ATV/UTV to accommodate the added stressors.
More than ever, we’re grateful that QuadBoss has put in the work so that we can unwind, unplug, and experience the wilderness without an ounce of worry.
