  • The original Desmond Regamaster started production in 1996.
  • Old fitments were conservative and shaped around FWD Honda and RWD Japanese applications.
  • Regamaster EVO II wheels are now produced in Japan and sold exclusively through ICB Motorsport.
  • 2018+ versions offer forged 6061 aluminum in a wider variety of fitments, sizes, lip options, and colors.

REGAMASTERS REBORN

Desmond Regamasters are nothing new. In fact, they’ve been around since 1996 (the same year the Volk Racing TE37 was born). Regas became popular among JDM track builds (mostly Hondas), with sizes ranging from 15 to 17-inch (early models were made in collaboration with Spoon Sports). We should also note that the initial models were manufactured in Russia; however, several years ago, production shifted to Taneisya in Japan. Taneisya also supplies forged magnesium wheels for race teams in ALMS, Super GT, and Formula 1, so you know the quality isn’t cheap. After a break in production, the iconic lightweight five-spoke wheel was brought back to life in 2018 with the introduction of the Regamaster EVO II, a new generation Rega that’s a forged 6061 aluminum wheel and is offered in more fitments, sizes, lip options and colors than ever, and sold exclusively through ICB Motorsport.

REGA EVERYTHING

With more available bolt patterns, car guys outside your typical Civic Type R, Acura NSX, and Toyota 86 owners were ready to get their hands on Regas. For example, former Pit+Paddock feature car Jessy Villaruz’s Porsche 997 Carrera S and my personal Toyota GR Supra project car.

Now I should disclaimer that there was some trickery involved in putting Regamaster EVO II wheels on both of these cars. There isn’t a 5×130 Porsche 911 fitment; also, when I picked up my wheels, the Mk5 Supra fitment didn’t exist either. Some customization and redrilling were required, but Jessy and I were determined to be one of the first 911 and A90 Supra owners to rock the wheels (in all honesty, it was Jessy that had one of the biggest influences on me).

POSTER GIVEAWAY SERIES CONTINUED

To continue the spirit of the Pit+Paddock poster series, I reached out to talented photographer Darrien Craven who helped snap the poster image of both of our cars. We’ll be giving out a limited number of 18×24 prints on our Instagram page soon, so don’t forget to follow us!
