You have to know when you’ve got a good thing. A Cars+Coffee event at Turn 14 Distribution was where we made our official debut three years ago, and ever since, the momentum behind everything that we did—our online magazine, builds, events, collaborations, pro racing endeavors, and more—kept building. Even though our calendar was more booked than ever, we never lost sight of who helped put us on the map in the first place: the local enthusiast community right here in Pennsylvania. That recognition—our indebtedness and gratitude for everyone who believed in what we were trying to do—is part of what keeps us going every day and certainly a driving force behind why we have continued to keep our Cars+Coffee series running.
OPENER AND CLOSER
Over the last couple of years, we’ve deliberately committed to an opener and closer—bookends at each point of the Northeast’s “car season”—that amasses thousands of people inside of Turn 14 Distribution’s generous lot…and maybe a few of our gracious neighbors’ spaces too. Looking at the forecast, we had a feeling that this one would reset our record books once again. Before the Cars+Coffee officially began, we had our answer: it was going to be big. The most eager cars poured in and claimed their spots, and with an hour to spare before 9 am, T14’s lot was brimming. The response might warrant us opening up the discussion about a third mid-summer event. What do you think?
SPACE TO SHARE
Part of that response has to do with our chosen venue: Turn 14 Distribution. Its lifeblood is the automotive and Powersports aftermarket, and among the local community, it’s grown into a destination, both as a place to find like-minded enthusiasts and where the motoring-obsessed fan can forge a career (ask us how we know). We brought Donut NV back again to make sure that Cars+Coffee attendees were well-fed and properly caffeinated.
YOU DOWN WITH KYB?
Of course, sharing isn’t always easy when you’re competing for space with over a thousand other enthusiasts. Nick from KYB confessed that he tried to bring his company’s demo truck to the season opener in April but quickly discovered he’d massively underestimated the hype around the event. He didn’t make the same mistake this time around; KYB’s support was instrumental in making sure we could put on the best possible event for the community. Booth visitors were able to check out the KYB 4Runner in the flesh. More than its aftermarket upgrades (KYB shocks included), the KYB ‘4Trainer’ has a built-in AV system in the trunk along with a trick product display slideout that helps educate consumers about its upgrades—especially when running larger wheels and tires, hauling, or towing. A pretty impressive setup if I don’t say so myself, and Cars+Coffee attendees were huddled around it pretty much the entire day.
VARIETY PACK
As ever, variety was a strong point of our Cars+Coffee. Motorists from nearly every perceivable era, genre, and style—and across state lines—came to check out the event. In contrast to our opener, which featured a generous display of BMWs, our fall feature car circle showed off a little bit of everything: a well-modified, Coyote-swapped Mustang, the Pit+Paddock x Bilstein E91 GTS Tribute, Daniel’s air-equipped Bon Jovi Golf, Ryan’s lifted Jeep Gladiator, Max’s ’76 CB750 (more on this later), and one of my favorite 944s ever. The trend continued across every available square foot of our industrial complex and reaffirmed that our home soil events are some of the most diverse around.
SPOT UP FRONT
After motorcycles made a big splash in the spring, we knew that we’d need to carve out a larger dedicated area. We called it our “Motorcycle Alley” and the catchy title seemed to resonate well with the local crowd; over 75 bikes occupied the prime time space in front of T14’s sprawling office, adjacent to our feature car circle drive.
To help mark the occasion, the first 50 riders got a raffle ticket and, with it, a chance to win one of three MOTUL 300V-branded Ogio Mach 5 riding backpacks during a mid-morning raffle session at the Pit+Paddock booth. Huge thanks to MOTUL for sending these over for our local motorcycle enthusiasts!
STARS OF THE SHOW
Although most attendees came to see the cars, there were other stars of the show that are worth recognizing: the creators. This time around, the first anniversary of our popular Creator Contest was supported by Powerstop, which meant we could turn the wick up on the prize pool. Instead of a full year of free Adobe software, we advertised that a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 was up for grabs. It’s one of the hottest creator tools in the game right now, so there was plenty of fanfare leading up to our weekend event. Cameras were EVERYWHERE on Saturday, so we are all very excited to see what contest submissions we get leading up to the deadline on Sunday, October 13 at 11:59 PM EST.
JUST A REALLY GOOD TIME
During rollout, a Volvo wagon owner stopped, got out of his car, and shook my hand to express his gratitude for hosting an event like this. It’s always a bit of a shock to receive such direct appreciation, but I also said that for us, seeing everyone enjoy the car scene so much is a good reminder of why we got into this industry in the first place. All this is to say that we know we’ve got a good thing going here, and we are thankful to everyone—our staff, sponsors (KYB, MOTUL, and Powerstop), feature cars, vendors, and fans—who helped make this event such a success. It was a perfect way to close out 2024 with a bang, and we’re very much looking forward to starting the 2025 season with you right here at T14 HQ.
