It all started with the vision of a car capable of blending elements from a ‘40s hot rod with the elegance of an imaginary vintage concept car. After 12,000 labor hours, and a six-year build time Jack Kiely’s 1940 Mercury Custom morphed into a car in a class of its own.
The world’s elite automotive restorations can become rather time consuming and expensive. So what is an owner to do once the restoration is completed? Exhibit it at a car show where the best of the best are judged for their attention to detail, rarity, and overall impact on the automotive culture – a Concours d’Elegance.
