Cars & Coffee Presented by Front Street Media: August 2019

The fifth installment of our monthly Cars & Coffee event was a complete success. The thermometer flipped from the July event where the mercury peaked at 97 degrees Fahrenheit. For August, Front Street’s Cars & Coffee topped out at an unseasonably cool 79 degrees Fahrenheit, which meant that attendees could spend their time out in the parking lot appreciating the wide variety of hot rides that showed up, instead of seeking out the nearest shady space.

We were surprised to see quite a few cars roll in well before 8 am, with several people making long-distance treks to come and see us. And with the lure of Yum Yum Bake Shop’s delicious chunks of fried dough, topped with chocolate, sugar glaze, or any number of other specialty flavors, who could blame them?

There was a ton of variety amongst the assembled vehicles; R/T Tuning brought out its brand-new 2020 GR Supra, which was a head-turner for the entire crowd. A first-gen Camaro SS nestled next to a Tri-Five Chevy, while a Velocity Yellow C7 Z06 Corvette attempted to hide in plain sight between several Mustangs and other domestic rides.

I attend Cars & Coffee events all over the area, and while ours might not be the biggest—yet—it has a great vibe. It’s nice to have the chance to chat with car enthusiasts of all kinds and find out what makes them tick.

One car I especially appreciated was the ’91 R32 Skyline GT-R of Colin Rogerson; he recently had the entire car overhauled by a semi-local shop, which turned it into a head-turning show winner. No lie… he left here on Saturday and went to Wekfest NJ on Sunday, where the car took home the prize for the Best Skyline/GT-R of the show. Look for a full feature on this beast in the upcoming weeks, right here on Front Street.

Don’t forget the super-clean 280Z, various Porsches (they seem to be really popular here) and a cadre of Mustangs of all vintages, among other hot rides. Check out the gallery for the full story on what you missed.

We’ve got one more Cars & Coffee event for 2019, scheduled to commence at 8 am on September 21. Be there or be square!
