Coming off the tail end of our third event, the buzz around Grid Icons is palpable. Enthusiast car owners, vendors, and manufacturers all want to be a part of it and fans far and wide all want to be there to experience it. Indeed, there’s an eagerness to know where the “quality over quantity” car show will go next. We’ve decided to keep that anticipation short this time around: the fourth chapter of the Pit+Paddock Grid Icons car show series will traverse the country and land in our home state of Pennsylvania. The latest effort sets its sights on celebrating all things modified Porsche—not just the 911—within a hosted space that lives and breathes the brand.
BEYOND 911
There’s no debate that the 911 is Porsche’s cornerstone, but the brand’s evolution beyond that icon—even though it had complementary products for decades—has finally been fully realized. Although somewhat contrary to Grid Icons’ original mission statement, we felt it important to recognize the full, and sometimes underrepresented, breadth of Porsche’s lineage. All modified Porsches are welcome. For all the midships, transaxles, SUVs, and Panameras who don’t get their time in the limelight, this one is for you just as much as the 911; visitors will experience a modified varietal of Porsche’s progress in engineering, design, and motorsport achievement.
AIR AND WATER
911 owners are often divided into two, distinct camps: air-cooled and water-cooled. Pit+Paddock’s Grid Icons car show aims to break down the wall and allow both sides to shine equally. Generationally speaking, there will be a 911 for everyone to appreciate here; it will not be a show that only celebrates factory-fresh PTS GT cars. Sure, some will be there, but Grid Icons will host more cars and owners with great stories to tell and a handful of rock chips to go with them.
HOST WITH THE MOST
Unique backdrops continue to be a priority for the Grid Icons series and we were hell-bent on securing a venue that would understand Porsche’s unique electricity the most. Eventually, we landed on Porsche Warrington, a new and pre-owned, enthusiast-driven car dealership in (you guessed it) Warrington, PA. Marc Brenner, the dealership’s General Manager, approaches his business differently than most. His modern vantage point—aided, no doubt, by his affinity for collecting the marque—has helped acutely align him with the local enthusiast crowd. As a result, Warrington is a destination for Porschephiles. It was a perfect fit, then, to pair a dealership that gets modern car culture with an agency that lives and breathes it. Porsche Warrington has graciously offered its entire dealership footprint as host for the event, allowing us to remix its space and showcase some of its rare collection among East Coast modified icons. It’s a sharp contrast to the sprawling natural landscape from NA Heroes. But changing it up is all part of the Grid Icons game.
