Japan’s outlandish style has shaped the sport compact tuning industry in recent years. The craze over widened body panels, the oversized wheels to fit inside them, and the use of vibrant lighting emerged in this country. The Tokyo Auto Salon is one of the showcases in Japan that motivates this surge in ‘JDM style’, as many of the country’s pre-eminent builders and vehicle customizers display some of their latest innovations in and on their display vehicles.

The American automotive aftermarket divides itself into two different genres of support, the racing industry represented by the PRI show and the accessory industry at the SEMA show. In Europe the two combine to create the Essen Motor Show, an enormous demonstration of performance vehicles and their accessory aftermarket.

Whether it’s officially organized or a casual gathering, automotive enthusiasts in Southern California are seemingly always close in proximity to a car show. Hosted by AutoCon Events and Purist Group, the Third Annual Winter Drive combined a car show with a charity event to raise donations for charity organizations within the community. Not only assembling an impressive list of unique cars but also over $250,000 worth of toys, this event had something for everyone.

Hong Kong is not often known for its car scene. Hidden amongst the endless rows of skyscrapers and cramped living spaces, it has remained relatively hidden. That’s not to say that Hong Kong has wanted to keep its car scene underground up until now.

The largest trade show in the automotive world is the SEMA show. Short for “Specialty Equipment Market Association”, this convention showcases the newest products, builds, and emerging trends in the automotive aftermarket. The Las Vegas Convention Center (and its surrounding lots) hosts the massive spectacle for the entire first week of November.

Ivy League college campuses are known for their elevated education, historic architecture, and perceived wealth. They're not usually associated with the setting of the import car community until Canibeat began hosting their annual show First Class Fitment in Princeton, NJ.

The second generation of the iconic AE86 chassis was released to the world a few years ago in the form of the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. In that time, it has created such a large impact on the aftermarket tuning industry that an annual show in Southern California is dedicated to showcasing its potential.
