Halloween couldn’t have come any sooner as I’ve been busy turning wrenches and assembling my very own Frankenstein engine, assembled using a slew of parts sourced from a variety of sources – Nissan to Honda. It was two years ago that I was intrigued to build another hybrid engine, but this time associated with the Nissan branding that best suits my retro-mod Datsun 510.
All-motor racing rewards those who are innovative. Bischoff Engine Service engine builder Nick Bacalis has taken his experience and partnered with his employer – the legendary Tony Bischoff – to create a one-of-a-kind naturally-aspirated big-block engine that’s destined for use in the Street Outlaw class in NMRA and NMCA competition.
In the last installment of our Datsun 510 build, we upgraded a number of parts including our brake system and suspension with the help of Ground control and FutoFab. After months of planning and installing parts, we have finally arrived at beautifying our beast along with rebuilding our wiring harness – no small task in a 40-plus-year-old car.
